Wild Side Specialty Tours' marine biologist crew spends the first half of the sunset cruise following the resident pod of Hawaiian spinner dolphins out to the night-time feeding grounds.
This is a new area of study for them - who have researched the dolphins daytime antics for over 15 years.
"It was late afternoon, and the sun was already beginning to set behind a fleecy thicket of clouds, tingeing them with hues of purple, pink and gold. Suddenly a dolphin surfaced less than 10 feet away, carved a graceful arc in the air and then disappeared into the water again."
Dinner comes after sunset, homemade chicken/shrimp stirfry with rice pilaf, gourmet bread and fresh pineapple.
As the skies darken we will either by greeted by a full moon to light our path, or on moonless nights, enjoy narrated stargazing. Check Wild Side's sunset cruise page for cruise dates.
Wild Side also participates in conservation and resource management of local marine habitats, as well as cooperate with the Wild Dolphin Foundation, studying behavior, ecology and the natural history of whales, dolphins, turtles, coral reefs and other marine life in Hawaii.
